What homework is and its history?
The definition of homework is “schoolwork that a pupil is required to do at home”.
A teacher would normally request that their homework should be done and completed for their
next lesson that you have together. In primary school homework is given to
students to show their parents so they know how their child is getting on in class, how they are coping with the work they are doing in school and the child learns how to cope with homework. This then gets the
students ready for homework that they will receive in secondary school. In secondary
school, homework is given to get through the course in more depth. The teacher
would teach you how to do it in class and then he/ she will set you an
assignment to carry out at home that is to do with the work that they just learnt that day.
